The Hollywood Zombies website is up and runnin'

First of all, Topps had me draw the legend of the hollywood zombies. Jay Lynch wrote it. He's one of the best underground comic artists of all time (he pretty much started them) and an all around nice guy. I just took each paragraph and did a little illustration for it. These are the panels I did for the legend of the hollywood Zombies. They also animated one of my zombies throughout the website, so look out for him.





These are some zombies I drew for the Monster Mash up part of the website. Click hereand then click on the zombie mash-up tombstone, to go and mix up some zombie body parts. It's pretty fun! I also drew the drawings for the 10 glow in the dark bonus cards. Those should be awesome printed. I can't wait to try them out! I've always thought glow in the dark ink was neat and it will be the first time something I've drawn will be printed with it.










Finally, here's a self portrait I did for the bio section of the website.

I drew all of these by hand with ink and brush and then I colored them in Photoshop. I painted one card for the set and came up with a ton of concepts. Once the set is released, I'll post all the concepts and my painting, until then go check out the Hollywood Zombies website. It has crazy sound effects, some funny animation and just a lot of cool stuff!

Kickin It Old Skool GPK

This is a GPK painting of Jamie Kennedy I painted for the premier of the movie, Kickin It Old Skool. It was handed out with other 80's related items.

This is the sketch Dave Gross did, He's one of the greatest Wacky Package and GPK atists of all time. I didn't have to change much. Pretty much the only thing I changed was the Coke can and replaced it with an Adam Bomb gpk. I ended up painting it over night. I also had to make the logos. Even though I had a really tight deadline, It was really cool to work on.

MADKIDS #7

This is another page I did for MADKIDS magazine. It stars Billy Blevins and it shows another blueprint for one of his inventions. Originally I was going to have each page be about inventions to be used in the classroom, but I ended up changing it. Now the possibilities are endless. It's on newstands now...Go check it out!

A couple of illustrations

These are a couple of illustrations I did for a baking magazine. The top one was for an article about how people usually just have a beverage for breakfast, so I drew a guy drinking a full course meal. The second one was about buying gourmet meals in grocery stores, so I drew a waiter popping out of a guy's shopping cart presenting him with a fully cooked chicken. I was able to do them cartoony, so they were a lot of fun.

DC Universe Legacy sketch cards

I'm drawing 300 color DC sketch cards for rittenhouse. I'll be able to post more later, but until then here's a Superman sketch I did. Let me know what you think. For more information, go here.

Hollywood Zombies

Above is a promotion card and poster for the new Hollywood Zombies trading card set from Topps!


This is the front and back of the new Hollywood Zombies promo card. It's a new set coming out from Topps in May, and it was being handed out at the New York comic con to promote the set. I didn't paint any of the pictured cards, but I did come up with a couple of the concepts. I've actually been doing a lot of concept work for this set and I've painted one. I'll post it once it's released. I'm really excited about it. Click here to read more about the set.

ANS5 Wacky Packages bonus card

This is the painting for the B5 Vulture Valley Wacky package. It's one of the bonus cards for the all new Wacky packages series5. It can be found in the Target bonus box. It was painted from a concept by Fred Wheaton. I've gotten to know him over the last couple of months and he's a real swell guy. I only painted one card for this set, but I hope to work on more in the future.


Here's what the printed card looks like. I haven't got it yet, but I'll update it with a better scan once I have it in my hands. Below, allow Mark Summers to axplain what Wacky Packages are...

A killing machine

This is a drawing I did for a battle going on over at Sam Hiti's blog. All you have to do is draw a combatant and they will be entered into a battle. People will vote on the winner.
I drew this using a crow quill (102) pen. I've never really been able to use them, so I thought I'd practice on this drawing. Everytime I've tried to use them in the past...I would splatter ink everywhere and I just couldn't get the ink to flow properly. It just sort of clicked this time and it went pretty smoothly. I'm not completely satisfied with how it turned out, but I don't hate it. Oh, and I used photoshop to slap some color on it.

Garbage Pail Kids series 6 paintings

I got a box of ANS6 Garbage Pail kids in the mail today. It was a blast opening packs. This series has a stick of gum in each pack. Just like when we were little kids! Here's the actual cards that I worked on.







They used one of my paintings for one of the puzzle backs. I used to love these as a kid. You could really look at the fine details and see all kinds of stuff you didn't notice on the little cards. I'm pretty sure I never completed a full puzzle as a kid. The sets would come out too fast and I never had enough time or money to complete them. Anyway, here's mine.



I submitted a bunch of concepts, but they only chose a handful of concepts. Here's one of my concepts that was approved, but John Cebollero painted it.


Here's the rough sketch of the tattoo card that I sent Topps. It was supposed to be blood spewing all over the tattoo artist, but they changes it to puke in the final painting.


Here are the Garbage Pail kid paintings I did for the all new series 6. I got to paint my own concepts this time, so it was a lot of fun

This is my first try at this painting. Her face turned out kind of weird, so I re-painted it and I pretty much touched up the whole painting. anyway here's an early version of the same painting.

Here's the second one.
I was sitting in my living room trying to think of ideas for the GPK's, I looked over at my coatrack and I thought of this guy.


Originally, I had the guy's coat and hat the same color as the kid's pants, but I changed it in the final painting. Here's the first attemp at this painting.


Here's the color rough and the original sketch. As you can see, I had to remove the blood from the original. I also took the guys face out.



Here's the third one.
I get a lot of ideas while I'm just about to fall asleep or while I'm in the shower. I thought of this guy while showering.


Sometimes the painting changes quite a bit from the original sketch. I ended up painting the GPK much larger on the finished painting. Here's the original color rough and concept sketch.



I zoomed in on the main character and this sketch looks more like the finished painting.


Forth one.
I used to let the canned dogfood slowly slide out of the can when I fed my childhood dog. It made a great sound!


Here's the rough sketch. Originally the dog was more cartoony and was about to barf. I can't seem to find the color rough.


Fifth one.
I'm a big fan of Wrestling and fighting in general, as long as I'm not caught in the middle of it. so I thought of this kid. It was pretty hard to make the kid's face the shape of a fist and keep the GPK look, but I was pretty happy with the final painting.


At first I couldn't quite get the stretched face skin right. I'm not sure I completely pulled it off, but Here's a slightly earlier version, before I added the details in the face skin, spit, teeth and some other small details.

Sixth and final painting for the set.
I originally had him squeezing his insides out onto a hotdog, but someone at Topps thought it was gross to put ketchup on a hotdog. I changed it to a hamburger. I ended up liking the composition better with the burger, so it all worked out.


Here's some sketches and the color rough. I ended up making the logo look like the Hines ketchup logo on the final painting. I put a little brain on the logo instead of the tomato.

Garbage Pail Kids series 6 and wacky packages series 5

Here's a short article in the new issue of nonsport update magazine. I worked on both of these sets. I only painted one Wacky package, but I painted quite a few GPKs. The GPK ans6 should be out any week now. I'll post pictures of the ones I painted once the set comes out.

New Nick Magazine

I have a full comic page in the december issue of Nickelodeon Magazine. It's in the comic book section of the magazine and it's on newstands now! You might recognize the lead character. To see the full story you'll have to go check out the magazine. I wrote and drew this page about a year ago. It's pretty neat to see it finally printed.
